The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! looks great. My brother, who is searching for his next car likes the styling of wrx, but is getting older and the STi wing is simply juvenile to him. The wrx is not an option if the STi exists, he loves power.

Any chance that the STi will be available wingless? How easy is it to take off on current models?

Good idea, but I don't think my brother would warm up to the idea of putting aftermarket parts on his car, let alone a whole carbon fibre trunk.

It's a big reason I didn't order a SLS Black Series is that I hate the aero package on it. It's optional in Europe but not in the US, it's standard.

On previous models, it was as easy as finding a normal WRX owner on Craigslist who wanted the STi wing. Meet up in a parking lot and swap the entire trunk lid, wing and all. You get the subdued trunk, they get the boy racer wing.

The wing is easily removable on most cars. I took the one off of my Evo 8 for the same reason only to find out that the car is terribly unstable at high speed without it.

Remind your brother that the wing is there for a reason. It isn't your typical bolt on Fast n Furious wing someone just slapped on the back of a civic. It provides metric tons (i am exaggerating of course) of down force to the ass end of the car to keep it from getting squirrely (yes that is a technical term) at high speeds.

If he loves the car but hates the wing he could always wait until they release the special edition. If it is anything like the 06 SE it will be sans wing but include an awesomely designed and subtle aero body kit that handles the down force duties quite well. That car was a sexy beast that I would gladly drive even now in my thirties.

Depends how it is attached. I removed the factory decklid spoiler on my 2011 GT, and it was both adhesive taped on, as well as having 4 holes drilled through the decklid. Didn't matter since I was putting another one on, but would not have been viable wingless without body/paint work or switching trunks. There could possibly be a wing delete order option (there is for the mustang) but it's not a real STI without a wing. Also it'd be easier as shit to sell aftermarket, just switch trunk lids with someone.

My '07 has a boatload of screw holes through the trunk to attach the wing. Never counted them, but I would guess more than 10.
